How to play Rummy 500
As exciting as all rummy games can be, one of the most exciting is Rummy 500. So how do you play?
What makes it such an exciting game is that it can be played by up to 8 players, so a large number of friends and family can share this game. Depending on the number of people present, 2 decks can actually be played.
At the beginning of a game of Rummy 500, each player is given 13 cards. The remaining cards are placed face down as a stock pile and one card is turned up for the discard pile. First player starts the round by either taking a new card from the stock pile or, by getting the revealed card in the discard stock.
Subsequent turns are done in the same way, but this time a player can now get cards from underneath the top of the discard pile. And if they do, they should get the top card as well. Something different to those who are used to playing the traditional type or gin rummy. But there are other differences to Rummy 500.
Like the normal game of rummy, players also create melds of cards of the same ranks, or sequence of consecutive cards of the same suit. A player can also lay off cards by existing melds of other players.
Scoring – When the card is exhausted or a player is able to put down all of his cards, the round ends. Points from played melds are tallied and added to the players score.
Faces are equivalent to 10 points, numbered cards according to their face value, and Aces is 15 points unless, they are used as a low card in a sequence.
As the name of the game would suggest, the first player to collect 500 points wins the game.
