Rummy Card Game Standards

Here are a few of the rummy card game objective that each player has to do in any rummy variation. So far these are the standards in any type of game.

1.Going out – Major objective of rummy. The aim is to get rid of all the cards by simply creating melds. This can be achieved by mastering the art of manipulation. It’s like a marathon on who will be the first to “go out” by forming your hold hand into sets and runs.

2. Knocking – In these type of variant, a player does not need to form a meld of all his cards. As soon as he reaches a certain deadwood points, he has the ability to knock or lay down all his cards. This is done when the player thinks that his unmatched cards or deadwood is lower than the rest of the players. If and when his hunch is right, then the player wins the rummy card game. However, if another player has lower number of deadwood, the knocker will get a penalty.

3. Melding – This is one distinctive feature of the game. Other than composing melds in your hand, it is also possible to add existing melds on the table. Either you add a card on your existing meld or from your opponents sets and runs. Melds are created by combination of sets and runs. A set is formed for example when you have, the same suit of 3’s. 3 of hearts, clubs and diamonds. A run however is formed by a sequence of 2, 3, 4 of hearts.

Depending on the type of rummy card game variant, positive scores are earned for making great melds, especially if you do not put down your melds and go straight to the win. Most players do this to earn large points.

4. Discarding – Compulsory of all rummy variations, each player must discard 1 card in the discard pile after each turn.

Rummy games seem to be the ultimate game available like poker.
