Rummy Strategy – Bing Rummy

Here are a few Bing rummy strategies a Bing rummy player should take note of in order to improve their chances of winning:

  1. Laying off early – As soon as you meld 3 sets of valid combinations, it is advisable for you to lay off your cards immediately. The advantage here is that, a player is very unlikely to get a whole lot of points. So, the sooner you lay off cards, the better for yourself to win the game.
  2. Waiting for 4 sets – In contrast to the first strategy, most players would hold off until they meld 4 sets which would then result in a low score as the player would only be left with 2 cards. The disadvantage here is that a set can’t be formed with two cards left. The next best thing would be melding it on their own or the opponent’s combination.
  3. Sandbagging in Bing rummy – This term is used when a player attempts to play all 14 cards in one meld. It is not a very common thing to do. The advantage to this Bing rummy strategy is to catch your opponent with many points in their hands.

It is a great strategy since a player must draw a card and then meld in two different moves. Thus, if you watch closely and observe, you can catch other players with very high nubers of points. It is very useful under certain situations especially in that the only choice for players with high points is to buy-in.
